Bob & Deb Ruzga

Bob was an IT Executive for 30 years, and Deb a travel agent for 20 years.  They began traveling to Kenya on short-term mission teams in 2009.   It was then they fell in love with the people of Kenya. Their hearts were broken for the children living in poverty with no hope for a future.  In 2013 they felt God strongly calling them to come and help Oasis build the newest Children’s Home in Kenya, The Shelter. They sold their house and all their possessions, and they moved to Kenya.  They have two children living in the United States. Their son David is married to Michelle, and their daughter Ashley is soon to be married to Garret!

Matt Patch

Matt first became involved in missions in 2009 when he went on an 11-month, 11-country pilgrimage around the world.  Afterwards, he felt called to return to Kenya as a long-term missionary. Matt is passionate about discipleship and helping others step into their identity and calling. His dream is to empower Kenyans to minister to their own people. As of December 2015, he has become the newest member of the Oasis team. He will support Rick Smith in the development of our efforts in Kenya, as well as become the site mentor for The Valley.

Elaine Filter

Before Oasis for Orphans, Elaine was a high school teacher for seven years.  She acknowledged God’s call to service in Kenya one morning on her front porch with her coffee and her Bible.  Her experience and training finally matched her passion for vulnerable children in Africa.  Elaine is excited to bring her teacher’s heart and background to help Oasis achieve their mission of rescuing and restoring every child in Southwest Kenya.
